WAIHI SHARES.

THE EECENT SLUMP. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. In view of the fact that a rise is being put up from the crosscut on the Edward lode of the Waihi mine, crosscutting operations through the lode will probably be delayed for a few days. During my interview with Mr. Williams on Saturday he pointed out, with reference to the recent scare, that it wa9 ridiculous to judge any mine by what took place on one particular reef or during the progress of development on a few feet of the same. It may be added to Mr. Williams' remarks that the ignorance of outside investors relative to mining generally commences a scare or assists those who operate with a view to bearing the market. There is little doubt that the recent fall was caused by heaw selling in Auckland.
