RAILWAYS IN AUSTRALIA.
THE " TIMES' " CRITICISM. (Received 8.16 a.m.) LONDON, August 28. Referring to its Sydney correspondent's important contribution on Mr. Wade's programme, the "Times" asserts that railways in New South Wales have been I deliberately placed to serve Sydney's interests, and the interior has been persistently sacrificed. Agriculture has languished because the railways have been built along the routes promising the best wool freights. British investors would subscribe loans with more readiness if j the railways were not directed to £he further inflation of Sydney, but to the j development of the whole State's re-1 sources. The Commonwealth Ministry ! already showed a disposition to relegate the two transcontinental railways to the . undated future.
