BANK AMALGAMATION.
(Received 8.5 a.m.) LONDON, July 15. The Melbourne Trust proposes to acquire the Mercantile Bank's assets for, inter alia, £24,086 sterling, payable by the issue to the Mercantile Bank of 120,330 trust shares, enabling distribution of nine fully paid 4/ shares for each pound share. It also proposes to issue by way of dividend new debenture stock representing to a considerable extent the difference between the Trust's share of the capital and the value of its assets after the merchantile absorption.
