AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE.
A. DEMENTED ITALIAN IMPRISONS SIS -WIFE AND CHILDREN FOR FIVE YEARS. (Received 12.10 p.m.) LONDON, July 15. A demented Italian wine merchant named Rea confined his wffe and eleven children for the last five years in twelve separate rooms of his country house at Naples, and guarded the prisoners with the utmost vigilance, feeding them on maize, potatoes, eggs, and poultry. He finally allowed two sons a short walk in the neighbourhood, and they informed the police, whereupon Rea was arrested. The mother had not seen her children for five years.
