NEARLY A MILE HIGH.
LATHAM'S GREAT FLIGHT. (Received 8.25 a.m.) PARIS, July 9. Lieut. Hubert Latham, in the contest for high flying at the Rheims carnival, rose in a spiral course to a height of 4658 ft, thus beating M. Paulhan's record. For 15 minutes the intrepid aviator was hidden from the spectators of the carnival by clouds.
