STUDENTS OFF THE CHAIN.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CANTERBURY, this day.
Canterbury College is holding Diploma Day to-day. The undergraduates, as usual, organised a procession in the morning, and paraded the streets, in spite of bitterly cold weather and frequent showers. The main feature of the pageant was a skit on compulsory military training. A group of undergraduates dressed in apologies for riSlitary costume, armed with . ancient guns of all descriptions, including a ramshackle caricature of field guns, bows and arrows, meres and swords, headed the procession. Other laughable items were the pursuit of Powelka, partial impact of Halley's comet, and the fight between Johnson and Jeffries.
