A cloudburst at Krassoszoereny, a county of Hungary, caused enormous losses of life and property. Thousands of tons of water swept in an irresistible wall down the valleys, whole townships being washed away by the raging torrents. Rescue parties were sent out as soon as the floods subsided, and'2s9 bodies were recovered from amid the ruins of the swept valleys.
It is feared that many more have been drowned, and that their bodies are under the silt and wreckage.
