THE ZAMBESI COURSE.
FOR SCUIXING CHAMPIONSHIP. FREMANTLE, June 16. '. The latest files of the "Sportsman," discussing the Arnst-Barry race and the suggestion of colonial and English writers that the Zambesi is nothing better than a plague-infected river, and in some places so shallow as to be unfit for sculling, states: "If the Zambesi were not a fit and proper river upon which to decide the championship, we should without hesitation inform ■ our readers, and wash our hands of the affair. We had assured ourselves of its fitness beforehand, but in order to obtain further light interviewed a prominent official of the South African Chartered Company, which shows that neither man has anything to fear as to the fitness of the course for sculling, or the climate."
