EXPOSING INFECTED FRUIT.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. William George Blair, fruitgrower, of Sydenham, Christchurch, was charged in Court to-day with exposing infected fruit for sale in a Wellington auction mart. The fruit consisted of pears infected with pear scab, or blackspot. The inspector who condemned the fruit said Blair had several warning notices sent him. The magistrate said it was necessary for a conviction that defendant should have known the condition, of the fruit before he sent it, and as no evidence had been adduced to that effect he dismissed the information without prejudice.
