A PECULIAR BANKRUPTCY.

WELLINGTON, this day. \ A meeting of creditors was held today in the- estate of Joseph Davie, sit present serving a sentence of seven years for arson at Wanganui. The Official Assignee announced that bankrupt's goods were seized by the Registrar of the Supreme . Court. • This interesting point, which aroused the curiosity of tho <fl-editoTs.. was > subsequently explained by the Registrar, who stated to a "Post" reporter that when accused applied for a change of venue of the trial from Wanganui to Wellington, they entered into a bond to pay the difference in the expenses of the trial incurred in the change. Hence the seizure.
