GOLF.

The annual meeting of the Auckland Golf Club i≤ -co be held at the Chamber of Commerce, Swanson-street, on April 2. The report states: "The removal of the club to its new links at Otahuhu has been satisfactorily accomplished, and, although during the next 12 monohs the expenditure must be strictly watched, the prospects for the future are very encouraging. Since the removal to O'tyAuhu 15 new members have been elected and sis further nominations received, while throughout the year only eight members resigned. As the new year commenced on March 1, and under the rules resignations must be sent in before that date, the club may rely upon its membership being fully maintained at its present strength. The numbers are as follow:— Playing members, 151; non-playing members, 36; country members, 22; life members, 20; boy members, 8; .total, 237. The statement of accounts shows that current expenditure has been fairly normal, and that some £50 has been transferred from revenue to capital. The capital expenditure upon the new links, however, has naturally been large, and it is necessary that the balance ( £315) of the debentures issued by the club should be at once subscribed to enable liabilities to be satisfactorily met. When the club took possession of the new property it was felt that the room which would be made available by any reasonable alteration of the existing house would not afford sufficient dre-ssingroom accommodation for both clubs, provided they maintained their present strength, and that eventually one of the clubs must take over the whole, a building being erected outside for the other. The committee, however, was uncertain as to the amount of support which would be given by tie ladies' club, and decided to provide only temporary accommodation. Lockers were accordingly placed in the upper room, but now that the membership is assured the committee recommends that this should be left to provide for future expansion, and that a large dres-singroom should be erected as soon as possible. With regard to residential accommodation, the committee has obtained a plan for a building of 10 rooms, the estimated cost of which is £420. Ii sufficient members can be found to provide this sum in cash it is highly desirable that the club should at once proceed with the erection of the. building and to frame regulations setting out the conditions upon which the subscribers should be entitled to •occupy •:.the rooms. The committee is arranging for the road leading to tlie ■ ! house to be .- dedicated and ■ taken : over by the local authority, and 1 it is proposed that when this has been done some 20 or 30 sections fronting the road should be r marked off and offered for sale among the members of the club. By this means the mortgage on the property could- be , substantially reduced. A large ' amount of .. work has been < done upon links, which are rapidly coming into playing order, and, although the permanent course .'cannot yet be laid oat, a full course of k lB holes will ht available
