PK-SKCH Al—. __B__a_Kf JEALOUSY, '"''"'j LONDON. March 11. _ new phase has been reached in the increasing rivalry and jealousy that exists between France and Germany. The French are strenuously opposing the Kaiser's plans for the modernisation of Jerusalem. The Kaiser is behind a movement to establish a modern hospital on tbe ancient Mount of Olives, and a German Church is being erected near the Holy Sepulchre. The Kaiser's emissaries, are restoring many ancient buildings in Jerusalem on the ultra-modern style. The French opposition is being manifested through a League of Friends at Jerusalem. The league, in resisting the Kaiser's projects, has announced that it will appeal to the Turkish Government to gtorj the work which is under way.
