The letter-carriers wili make their usual rounds on Saturday, but on Friday and on Monday they will not he on duty.-- There.will be counter deliveries of town letters on- Thursday and Saturday, between 7 ' p.m. .and 8 p.m. ''.':- •;,' The Railway Department has made arrangements to encourage : the holiday ■migratory habit of the- people with more, frequent trains and reduced fares. The issue of excursion tickets commences today, and will continue until Easter Monday, the tickets being a—i—Me for return until 26th'April. ;> An extra express train will leave Auckland for Wellington on Friday, Saturday, 'Monday and Tuesday, at 10.35 a.m., and on extra express from Wellington to Auckland will leave Wellington on' Friday,-- Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at"- 8.55 pan. For the customary East er' excursion to Rotorua, a special train will leave Auckland at 10 o'clock on Thursday night, and a return train will leave - Rotorua at 7.15 p.m. on ■ Monday. A special excursion train will leave Auckland for Te Aroha ■at 6.45 on Good Friday morning, leaving Te Aroha for return at 4.30 the same afternoon. On Saturday, Monday and Tuesday trains will run at frequent intervals at suitable times .between Auckland and EUerslie, for the conveyance of visitors to the Auckland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting. The Northern Steamship 1 Company are offering trips for Easter to Thames, Paeroa and Coromandel at reduced rates. It is scarcely necessary to state that there will .be no lack of shorter water excursions offering for people who prefer that sort of outing. '■-'■'. ■ & For those who stay in the city, the principal amusement will be the Auck- , land Racing Club's Autumn Meeting at | rslie on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. For bowlers, there will be the annual tournament conducted by the Auckland Provincial. Bowling Association. This will commence on Good Friday, and will occupy about a week. There will be no tram-cars running on Friday, and the employees will hold their annual -picnic. . ... .. Retail houses in the town and suburbs will close on Friday and Monday, opening on Saturday. Most factories and all the wholesale houses : will, close.=.from Thursday night until. Tuesday morning, and banks will close for Tuesday also.
