FIRE IN ROTORUA.
DAMAGE OVER £4000. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. A fire occurred early on Sunday morning, breaking out at 1.45 o'clock in a block of builaings in Fenton and Hinemoa streets, owned by Mr. B. S. Corlett. The brigade were soon on the spot, and found great difficulty in locating the fire owing to the vast volume of smoke and the construction of the building. After it was located it was soon extinguished, but not until a lot of damage had been done by water and .moke. The premises were occupied by W. Manson (draper), Miss Strouts (florist), C. P. Parkerson (photographer), and C. Chirm (tailor), who was uninsured. Tho insurance on Miss Strout's stock is unknown; Hanson's stock was insured for £1100 in the Northern, and he values his stock, which is ruined by smoke and water, at £3000. Parkerson's stock was insured for £600 in the Phoenix, and he estimates his loss at £400. The roof of the building has fallen in at one place, but the damage is not very great, and from £150 to £200 will cover it.
