CLOSE OF THE CONGRESS. (Received 8.50 a.m.) LONDON, February 13. The Newport Labour Conference has closed. Among many briefly discussed resolutions carried were: "That any child certified as badly nourished should be compelled to attend the school meals; that children be also fed during the holidays; and that it be obligatory on local education authorities to provide in schools efficient baths." Resolutions were carried in favour of nationalisation of the railways and waterways, and against all forms of militarism. The conference voted the Labour Commoners £600 for the !'-"" session, and £30 each member f&, rl-.e autumn session of 1909. Ordinary Parliamentary maintenance cost £6123. The year's subscriptions to the Parliamentary fund totalled £13,526, and the balance in hand was £14,755.
