A well-attended meeting was held In the Town Hall on Wednesday evening to see If something could be done towards bringilng about an Improved train service for %he northern end of tie district. Mr. Ivess, In a vigorous speech, pointed out the extreme hardship which the settlers between Obakune and Taumarunui were put to ni\ der the existing time-table, and moved Thft' following resolution :—"That this meeting would respectfully ask the Minister for Railways, in compiling the new timetable, to take the claims of residents of the VTaima-ino district into consideration by ■yrovidlng Tor a morning train from Ohikiine. to connect with the first outward train .from Taumarunui to Auckland. returnIng tc Ohaknne at night."
