NEW ZEALAND'S BATTLESHIP.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) OHRISTCHURiOH, Friday. Sir Joseph Ward stated to-day that, in regard to the battleship to be presented by New Zealand to the Motherland, he had made arrangements with the Admiralty to invite tenders for the building of it in the same manner that its own vessels were constructed. On receipt of the tenders, they would be cabled out by the High Commissioner to the New Zealand Government, which, on receipt of the offer, would, decide which tender should "be accepted.

A fatal accident occurred at the Daylesford Gold Mines Company's mine on November 3. At about 1.30 a.m. an over-winding accident occurred, which took the tank to the poppetheads.
