THE GOLDFIELDS.

DIXON'S C»NSOLIDATED. The manager telegraphed this morning:—'*lslbs. of picked atone from the reef in the footwall drive No. 2 ievel." PHOENIX AND TALRTJA DREADNOUGHT. These properties and another one have 'been inquired, for, with a view to flotation, by a &ydney firm of mining agents and company promoters, who have headquarters in London and an agency in New York. The Company, if floated, is to be one of £150,000, with a. working capital of £50,000 in reserve shares. The vendors to get £25,000 in cash and fully paid-up shares. THAMES DEEP LEVELS. The signatures of representatives of the various companies interested in the driving of a tunnel at 1,000 feet at Thames, are being appended to the agreemwnt submitted by the Minister for Mines. Already the Waiotahi, May Queen, and Saxon representatives have signed, and the attorney of the Kuranul Caledonian G.M. Co. has cabled Home, recommending the London directors to follow suit. This only leaves the directors "of the Victoria" G.M. Co. to append their signatures to complete the agreement as far as the contributing companies are concerned.

The'carefulness with which the agreement has been drawn up is shown by the fact that the area included in tho present five companies is made responsible for the upkeep for all time. This obviates the possibility of new companies being formed in the future to take up portions of the same area, and declining to accept any responsibility.
