The cheapness cl the "biri" cigarette in Bombay is commented on in a United States consular report. A thousand are sold for lOd, and even less, although the tobacco for their manufacture is sometimes brought from Madras and Assam. The wages paid aTe a little over a farthing for rolling 100 cigarettes.
