-- tg! ! The quarterly meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held this morning In the office of Mr G. 3. Uarland, Shurtland-street. Present: Col. Allen Bell (president), In the chair. Messrs j. 8. Montgomery, Bowler, Duxneld, Major Lusk, Boddie, Cullieck, Schmidt, Dye. Branch Conferences.—Mr Schmidt suggested that conferences should be held by adjacent branches, at Pnpakura, a fortnight before the quarterly Bitting of the executive. The chairman said the idea was a good one, and could be undertaken without any Instructions from the executive. Taxation of Maori Lands.—Mr Boddie moved "That whereas the exemption from taxation of Native lands continues to be n serious block to progress and the cause of great injustice to European ratepayers in many parts of the Dominion, this executive urge upon the Coionlal Executive the Immediate necessity of a united and determined effort to bring pressure to bear on every member of the House of Representatives, so as to Insure that the necessary legislation be passed during the coming session to bring all occupied or individualised native lauds under the Rating Act far both ordinary and special rates." This was agreed to, and It was resolved to add Mr Boddle's name to the committee set up to appear at the bar of the House on the Native Lands question.
