The wife of a farmer named Turner, at Winston, North Carolina (U.S.A.), gave birth on March 31 to quintuplets, three boys and two girls. All five babies were lusty and thriving. Their weights averaged 41bs. to Gibs-. The mother was doing well. The jockey McEinnon, who received serious internal injuries during the running of the Winter Steeplechase at Ellerslie on Wednesday, is still in a very critical condition at the Auckland Hospital.
