CARBON BISULPHIDE FOR WHISKY.

A telegram received at Adelaide from Streaky Bay states that a sad poisoning fatality has occurred at Calca. David C. Drever invited a friend named Baldock in to have a drink, and in the dark mistook a bottle of bisulphide of carbon for one of whisky. Immediately they swallowed it they discovered their mistake. Baldock then made himself ! vomit, but all attempts in that respect on Drever failed. Both victims collap6«d within ten minutes, though Baldock rallied at periods, and at times emetics were, used which had the desired effect each time. Drever, however, remained unconscious till 11.30, when he died. A doctor, who was -sent for, covered 60 miles in less than seven hours, but arrived too late. He attended Baldock, however, and has hopes of his recovery. Drever was 44 years of age, and left a widow- and young family.
