air. P. A. McKellar (of the railway staff at Hampden, Otago) has been transferred to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Thomson (of Eemuera) left Auckland by the s.s. Navua yesterday on a two months' trip to the Islands. Mr. A. Fels (of Chrietchurch) arrived at the Grand Hotel this morning, having come North by way of the Main Trunk Line. Mr. B. Earle (of Hull, England), who has been visiting New Zealand, left yesterday by the Navua, on Ms return Home, via Canada. Captain Bernard, who is on a fishing tour of New Zealand, returns to the Central Hotel on Saturday, after a few weeks' stay at Ruseell. Mr. T. Beveridge (of Wellington) arrived in Auckland by the Main Trunk express this morning on a brief holiday visit. He is etaying at the Star Hotel. Mr. John Angus and Miss Angus (of Dunedin), who have been guests at the Star Hotel, leave by the Main Trunk express this evening on their return South. Mr. Morse, the well-known handieapper, who has been staying at the Star Hotel, leaves this evening by the Main Trunk express on his return to Wanganui. Mr. and Miss Monkton, Southern visitors to Auckland, who have been on a tour of the Thermal Springs District, returned to the Central Hotel from Eotorua last evening.
Mr. J. Kirkcaldie, formerly chairman of the Wellangton-Manawatu Railway Company, together with his wife and two daughters, ieavee Auckland by the Tofua on June 22 on a trip to the Islands.
A tangi at Omah'u (near Napier) for the late Mrs. G. P. Donnelly (Airini Karauria) drew a very large number of visitors yesterday afternoon, considerably over a thousand persons, exclusive of natives, being present. It has now been decided that the funeral will take place this afternoon, and the Bishop of Waiapti and the Eev. John Hobbs (Hastings), will officiate.
The death is announced of a wellknown resident of Auckland, in the person of Mre. H. W. Heath, wife at Mr. H. W. Heath, of Princes-street. Tie deceased, who was 64 years of age, was the daughter of Alexander Marshall; one of the old New Zealand pioneers of the thirties, and was- born in Auckland, being, indeed, one of the earliest white children born on the shores of the Waitemata. Mr. and Mrs. Heath, who had been in California for 20 years, only returned to New Zealand about three years ago. The deceased was a sister of Mr. John Marshall, of Auckland, and of Mrs. J. M. MacdonaU. The interment will be private.
