A NATION'S GRATITUDE. CONFIDENCE HT ADMIRALTY. {Received 8.15 a.m.) LONDON", June 9. The "Times" says that Australia has the honour of being the second dominion to offer a Dreadnought. The gratitude with which the British Government accepted the offer was shored in full by the vhole nation, as well as by the citizens of the oversea dominions.
That feeling was increased by the proof of confidence in tha Admiralty afforded by Australia's readiness to leave the manner in which the gift shall be applied to the judgment of the Imperial authorities. REPRESENTATIVE AT THE CONFERENCE. (Received 10.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Mr J. F. G. Foxton, Hon. Minister, has been selected to represent Australia at the Defence Conference. There will be no second representative. THE NAVAL SCARE. A TORT BOGEY. (Received 10.15 ejn.) PERTH, this day. Sir Josiah Symon, ex-Attorney-Gene-eral of the Commonwealth, has returned from a visit to England, and says the whole naval scare was worked up for party purposes by the Tory party and the newspapers.
