REMUERA ROAD BOARD.

A special meeting of the Remuera Road Board was held last night to consider several matters relating to tram and 'bus service, nnd size of the drainage sewer, and other items of local interest. Present: Messrs. "J. Dempsey (chairman), J. s.> Dickson, C. Oawkwell, B? Bond;rand' Pllkihgtdn. Drainage Sewer.—ln accordance with a suggestion from the Auckland Drainage Board, it was decided to appoint Messrs. Dempsey and Dickson as delegates to meet the drainage engineer In conference relating to the size of the main branch sewer for Remuera district and other questions. Conference with Parnell.—ln consonance with an agreement to meet the Parnell Council in conference re certain complaints touching Ayr-street, and to discuss repairs to that thoroughfare. Messrs.- Dempsey, Cawkwell, and Bond were appointed delegates. 'Bus Service and Trams.—A deputation, consisting of Messrs. Spencer, Hannan, and Rutherford, from residents in the roads served by 'buses connecting with tramcaifi waited upon the Board to ask that the residents* rights be properly conserved In respect to the Board's new agreement *ethe Auckland Tramway Company. Some departure from the original agreement respecting the 'bos services to Vlctorla-avenne and Orakei-road bad taken place, and it waa urged that in the new three years' agreement a clause should be inserted enforcing compliance with the terms agreed upon in regard to Victoria-avenue and Orakei-road. Mr. McVeagh. the Board's solicitor, attended, and explained the situation, and. on the motion of Mr. Cawkwell, the Board's solicitor was instructed- to a«here to the Board's previous instructions, with the addition that the company be requested to start the full 'bus service forthwith, as promised. . Conference with General Labourers.—The chairman (Mr. Dempsey) was appointed to represent the Board at the forthcoming conference between the General Labourers' Union and local bodies.
