PICNICS.

X.Z. POWER-BOAT ASSOCtAIIOX. The New Zealand Power Boat Aswcfirion held a launch picnic at Pine Island oa Saturday afternoon last. About 20 boats ittended, carrying about 400 people. A pleasant time was spent on "shore, and the party returned to town about 8 o'clock. During tile- afternoon the ptiaes won at the last club races were presented by tne commodore, Mr A. Brett. The party proceeded to the picnic- ground In drags, and spent a thoroughly enjoyable day at this popular resort A. variety of sports were Indn'ged In, swimming, running, etc., and good form was displayed in tfie latter direction. The most exciting event was the tug-of-war. married v. single men, the single men beiny quite outclassed. After tea the party returned home, after what was votea by one and all a most enjoyable and successful oriting. KAPAI PICNIC. A party of O. A. Coles and Cb.'s employees and their friends, 130 to all. journeyed to Brown's Island on Saturday. On reaching the Is'and the picnickers quickly dispersed, reassembling at 12.30 and- at 5 o'clock to do justice to the provisions provided by the committee. Photographs of the party and of the committee were taken, and a sports programme, including children's races, was disposed of during the day, the arrangements beins made by the sports committee. In presenting the trophies to the successful competitors, Mr. Alex- Bnrt. jun.. In a neat speech referred to the rapid growth of the Auckland branch, and mentioned that this was In no small "measure due to the Interest and attention of each and every employee, and also expressed bis gratification at the kindly feelings existing between the firm and employees. In conclusion Hr. Burt eulogised the arrangements made by the committee, the completeness of which went to make one of the most enjoyable outings yet held by the firm- Before departing, a hearty rote of ttmnlra was tendered to Messrs.
