THE DRINK BILL.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) OHBISTCHIIRCH, this day. The Rev. Edward Walker's annual calculation of New Zealand's Drink Bill shows for 1908 an expenditure exceeding three and three-quarter millions (£ 3,751,----965), being an increase of £84,586 on the previous year, but a reduction ol 4£d. per head of population. The calculation represents the cost to consumers if all liquor passed through the customs : and excise had been purchased at per gallon rates, and is, therefore, much under the actual cost.
