LAWN TENNIS.
On Saturday afternoon at the. Eden ana Epsom courts, 8. Upton and Br. H. Keith met in the semi-final round of the Eden and Epsom Club's singles championship. Upton -won, 7—9, 6—2, 6—B, 6—l. Upton, after losing the nrst set, did not experience much difficulty In defeating his clever opponent. The contest did not provide much excitement, bothi adopting careful tactics, and the play tn consequence was a little tedious at times. Upton and Keith will meet for a third time this season, on this occasion in the West End Club's championship. It was originally arranged to play this match last Saturday, but it will now probably take place this coming Saturday. The final of the Eden and Epsom Club's championship now rests between S. Upton and J. P. Grossmann, the latter player having defeated A. S. C. Brown in the uemi-nnal round ou Saturday afternoon. INTERPROVIXCIAIi MATCH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. «- T M. e annual lnterprovinclal tennis match, Wellington v. Canterbury, played in Wellington yesterday,- attracted a. large gathering of. spectators, who were treated to a fine exhibition of tennis. The competitors were in good form, and there were some close games. Wellington won by five matches to four, 15 sets to nine. The following are the scores:— Singles.—Oltlver (Christchurch) beat Swanston (Wellington), 5-6, 6-1, 7-5 Usher (Wellington) beat Goes (Christchurch), 6—4, tt—4; Peacock (Wellington) ?™ <S U J" <£ n rlstchurch). 6-3, 6-hI; Klver (Chrlstcuurch), beat Smythe (Wellington) 6—4, 4—6, 6—4; Pearse (Christchurch) beat .Brown (Wellington), 6—i, 6-2, 2—6 (third set need not have been played); BonutuKtou (Christchurch) beat Young (Wellington), o—s, 3—6, 7—5. Doubles.—Peacock and Fisher (Welling(Wellington) beat Quill and Olllrer (Christchurch), 6—4, 6—4; Young and Smyths (Christchurch) beat Bonnington and Pearse 6—6, 6—4, 6 — i (third set need not have been played).
