Mr. J. Cadness , launch Marere was launched at Northcote yesterday. The Ponsonby launch Edna (Mr. Reid) was to be placed in commission this week. Her mooring grounds arc at Heme Bay. lir. -T. Reid's new Launch Lager called in at Lake Takapuna on Saturday afternoon, on the occasion of the KZJi Association's picnic, which was ljeing held there, and left almost immediately afterwards ior Kacwou, where the -week
end was spent. Tie launch. Matareka was_also away .cruising, in the gulf for the holidays. A new launch, built by Mr C. Sailey for Nelson Bros., of Gisbomo, is to be launched on Saturday next. The annual pknir of tho Now Zealand Power Buut Association, to i-orn-niom-orate tho opening of tho season, which took place on .Saturday la=t, was a highly successful function. A large number of people "were pin'scnt. and an enjoyable afternoon was spent at the lake. The launches which took part in the opening were as follows: Alleyne (Commodore A. Brett 1, Doris M., Floral, Winsome, Lager, Snowftake. Ena, Erie, Isle, Buffalo, Eagle and Huia. The Association opens its racing programme on Saturday week next, when races will be run off for the commodore's trophies. Mr Alf. GifTord's launch Kofciro has been purchased by Mr Harpp.r. She took a week-end trip to Waiheke on Saturday. Last Monday Alleyne made a run to Cowes Bay, AVoihcke. The Doris AL, with Mr. Martin and party aboard, went for a spin to Motutapu on Monday. The Grey Witch had her first spin of the season on Monday, cruising round the harbour. Messrs. Worral and Company's launch Kirita is being fitted with a new 20 h.p. four cycle Lozier engine, and i<. expected to be off the slip by Saturday Efxt. Mr. W. S. Whitley's launch Matareka acted as flagship at the opening function of the St. George's Rowing Club on Saturday afternoon last, and afterwards went out for a eruUe round Waiheke and Gannet Rock. She returned to Auckland on Sunday, and went out again on Monda.v, taking a party to Putiki Bay.
