CYCLE SEASON OPENED.
The Rudge Cycle Club opened its season last Saturday after- i noon with a run to One- ' tree Hill. Some 50 cyclists took part in 1 the procession, a good -umber of the I machines being decorated. At One-tree ' Hill the club entertained its guesta at ] afternoon tea. Prizes in the competitions i were awarded as follows:— i Best Decorarted Lady's Cycle.—Miss , Maberly 1. Most Comical Costume.—T. James 1, : A. Herring 2. A special prize was awarded to H. Oakes. Most Original Costume.—C. Renners 1, ; H. Edwards 2, Wickstead 3. Best Decorated Gentleman's Cycle.— B. Maberly 1, a Stewart 2, W. Horn 3. Special prize, A. Oakes. Slow Race. —Wickstead was the only rider to finish in the final, and he was accordingly awarded first prize. ONEHUNGA CLUB. The Onehunga Cycling nnd Touring Club held their first race of the season for the Pardy challenge shield over a livemile course on Saturday last. The result was as follows:—H. Campling, 2m, 1; H. Sayers, lm 455, 2; A. Sorenscn, lm, 30s, 3. Also started: 0. Lecky, scratch; H. Chxistini, scratch; E. Pople, 30s; J. Hogan, 30s; D. Howard, 455; C. Denize, lm 30s; L. Palmer, lm 455; J. Wilson, lm 555; M. Brennan, 2m 10s; G. Poplc 2m 20s; S. H. Brooking, 2m 40s; V. Marks, 2m 50s; H. College, 2m 555. Another race will take place nest Saturday, for medals presented by Mr S. H. Brooking.
