ROOSEVELT'S TOUR.
AUSTRALIA'S INVITATION. ACCEPTANCE IMPOSSIBLE. . NEW YORK, October 2. President Roosevelt, in thanking Mr. E. W. Howard, Councillor of Embassy at Washington, for Mr. Deakin's message and invitation to Australia, intimated that it was impossible for him to make the suggested visit. MELBOURNE, October 2. After the fleet left Albany Mr. Deal-in cabled to President Roosevelt expressing gratification and thanks for the visit of the splendid fleet of the United States, adding, "We would greatly appreciate another opportunity of honouring your country, this time in your own person. I hope that in your projected tour next year we may welcome the visit of Theodore Roosevelt, the individual, after you have relinquished the heavy burden and high responsibilities of your office."
