GOLF.
The final ot the Auckland Golf Club's championship, played on Saturday over a 30-hiole course, provided probably the most exciting final yet seen for the honour. The contestants were W. B. Colbeck (who has held the title for the last two years) and W. N. Heather, last year's runner°up. In the morning both (
were exceedingly patchy in their play for some time, Heather being first to strike form, and at the adjournment he was four up, After lunch Colbeck improved considerably, and evened" -up matters somewhat, but failed with his drive at the 17th hole, giving the holeto his opponent, who thus won the match and the championship by 3 up and 2 to play.
