At a recent meeting of the Otahnha Progressive League the time-table-run by, the motor train waa referred to as unsatisfactory. It was hoped" that the representations made to M\ Lang, MJ?., would have result. The need of a bank was pointed out. The following officere have been elected by the League for tho ensuing year: President, Mr A. Storges; vice-president, Mr H. J. Hall; committee, Messrs F. Andrew, Trewin, Brady, Todd, Knight, Harbutt, Waddel andPhfliips (hon. treasurer and secretary)- - The second meeting of the lfith "annnal C.E. Convention was held in St. James' Hall, before a large and apprecixtive audience. This meeting took the form ot the junior rally, and some .10 societies were represented. The Rev. H. Knotrles Kempton was in the chair, and a moat interesting- programme of missiona-cy items, given mainly by the juniors, was gone through. The items of the evening, a" dialogue, entitled the "Missionaries to Tea," was given by representatives from sev«ral Societies, and was excellently rendered- Mx. S. Barry, in the absence of the president, presented. the junior banners (one for misskraary offerings and one for largest increase in membership). The Central Mission Society proved to be the sueessfnl society, winning both banners, great credit being due to thia society in accomplishing this record. Bro. A. E. Kirwood (the new president of the union) was introduced for the first time to EndeavoHTers by the chairman, and gave a few wc!l*itf>sen- words of encouragement to the Juniors present. The roll call, in whieb all the societies gave their separate responses, made a happy ending to a most Inspiring meeting, wnieh most prove a great impetus to the work among the juniors. The quarterly meeting of the Loyal Putebohe Lodge. M.C.. 1.0.0.F.. took place iv the Masonic Hall on the 22nd inst. There was a good attendance of members. It was reported that the several accounts are In a very satisfactory condition. Dr. Reekie has b-en appointed as medical attendant to the lodge. The membership of the lodge is constantly increasing.
