■—-■•■ i QUESTION FOR CANDDDATESi '- (By Telegraph.—Press Association^ WELLINGTON, this 4>jw A largely-attended public meeting, held at Petone, passed unanimously the following resolution: " That thig meeting affirms that ,in the interests of the good government and moral welfare o| the community, it is desirable that the following question be put to every candidate at the general election: "If elected, will you support legislation making it a criminal offence to influence votes at any time prior to any local option poll by means Of fraud, falsehood, misrepresentation, or by any form of deception printed or otherwise, either for or against any of the issues' on the "local option ballot pa-per?" ._--. .;'..-.-"

Mr. H. W. Wilding, a Liberal candidate for the Waitemata seat, addressed a large meeting in the Mayfield schoolroom on Saturday evening. Mr George Wilson'occupied "the chair. The candidate, who was given a good healing, gave an address on similar lines to that delivered in other centres. . At the conclusion of his speech the candidate was freely plied_with questions, which were answered. A vote of thanks and confidence was proposed and carried unanimously. Mr. J. W. Shackelford announces al series of meetings at Avondale, Swan_on_ Waikumete, Henedrson, Waitakerei. and the Roskill Hall.( Dominion-rd. Attention is drawn to the advertisement in this issue calling a meeting of supporters of Mr W. J. Napier on Thwreday evening next at the Council Chamber;, Devonport.
