BRITAIN'S MEAT SUPPLY.
ADMITTING IMPORTED CATTLE. LONDON, July 16. An influential deputation urged the Government to appoint a committee to inquire into the cattle and meat supply, and also asked for the free importation of Canadian store cattle, and the admission of cattle slaughtered on arrival from all countries officially declared free from disease. Mr. Asquith, in a sympathetic reply, said the question was one of importance, he proposed to consult Earl Carringj ton ( President of the Board of Agricultvre) and Mr. Winston Churchill (President of the Board of Trade) before coming to a decision.
