POISONED SWEETS.
lIOVE TRAGEDY IN MELBOURNE MURDER AND SUICIDE. MELBOURNE, July IC. A lovers' tragedy occurred at Toorak, a suburb of Melbourne, last night. A girl named Wolkinghaiu was found dead, I and a youth nanud Groves in a dying I condition in an adjoining paddock. He was removed to the Hospital, where lie succumbed. An investigation shows that both deaths were caused by strychnine-poison-I ing, and a quantity of chocolate creams ; with strychnine crystals adhering, and a I bottle of the supposed poison, were dis- ■ covered in Groves' pocket. j The victims were sweethearts. The i night before the tragedy, when going to jmeet Groves,_ Miss Wolldngham told a 'companion that Groves was vcrj r jealous of her, and had repeatedly threatened to .kill himself. ! She did not care for him, she said, but 'intended to marry for the sake o f a i home.
