GREATER AUCKLAND AND THE TOWN HALL SITE.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —When the Greater Auckland scheme is an accomplished fact, will the Town Hall, when built on the Greystreet site, be suitable for the surrounding districts? When the population increases around the City, as it must at no great future time, to 250,000 people, and it has one of the most beautiful sites for a large city, and its scenery all around is lovely, and the climate is all that can be desired, what a blunder it will be to put the Town Hall in the hollow! What will the people who come after us think of our selecting such a site? In my opinion, the present cemeteries offer an ideal site for a Town Hall. While writing on civic matters, I take the opportunity of remarking that a public convenience is required at the top of Newton-road. Other parts of the City are well provided for, and I.think the public would greatly appreciate it.— I am, etc., PRO BONO.
