MT. ALBERT LITERARY AND SOCIAL CLUB. The meeting last night took the form of a young people's evening. An excellent programme was provided. A portion of "King John" was read, and musical items \rcre rendered by Misses Olivia Fristrom, W. Kerr Taylor, E. Webb, and Messrs Leonard Fristrom and W. Astley. Miss V. Wood recited "The Legend Beautiful," and Mr S. T. Astley "Fra Giacomo." There were about one hundred and fifty members and friends present. ORANGE HALL CONCERT. Tho annual concert in connection with the Orange Institution was held in the Orange Hall last night. Bro. .T. Murphy, R.W.P.D.M.. presided over a large attendance. An enjoyable programme was gone through, Items being contributed by Misses McCullough, E. Bennett, Balchin, Sister Nicholson, Messrs T. Brough, F. Greenstreet, J. Lewis, 11. R. Blackburn, Morrow, W. Sinclair, W. Blackburn, Hodson, Canham. Doree, F. Harrison, Blakey, Dumper (2), D. Cromarty, .7. Cox, W. Rowc, Revs. J. Wilson, A. N. Scotter, and F. A. Thompson, and Master S. Bennett. The accompaniments were ' played by Miss McCullough and Mr W. Purccll. ST. DAVID'S LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY. Last night at St. David's Church Hall, before a. large aud appreciative audience, the Rev.' A. C. Wedderspoon, M.A., gave an able and humorous lecture, entitled "Humours of a Scottish Pastorate." For quaint humour, well told stories and anecdotes, the rev. gentleman left nothing to be desired. If anything waa wanting to give the lie to the very common assertion by Englishmen and Irishmen that the Scottish race was devoid of humour, and that they saw a joke about the day after lt was made, the spontaneous outbursts of laughter of this large Scotch audience was sulEcieut to dispel such an idea. Altogether a ■ most pleasant evening was spent A unanimous vote of thanks was tendered to Mr Wedderspdon for his lecture. ST. DAVID'S LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY. Last night at St. David's Church Hall, before a large and appreciative audience, the Rev. A. C. Wedderspoon, M.A., gave a very able lecture entitled "Humours of a Scottish Pastorate." In quaint humour, racy anecdote, ana story, the rev. lecturer left nothing to bo desired. Altogether a most pleasant evening was spent, and a unanimous vote of thanks was tendered to Mr. Wedderspoon.
