BOROUGH COUNCILS.

■ GREY LYNN. Tbe Grey Lynn Borough Council met last night Present: The Mayor (Mr G. Sayers). Councillors W. J. Holdsworth, J. H. Muldoon W. S. Smith, J. G. Garland, A Creamer, A. Donald, W. Dlmery. McKelvie-street—On the motion of Mr Schofield, the foreman of works was instructed to make necessary repairs to He-Kelvie-street. This was an application from Mr W. Thorne. _. _ . Greenwood-avenue.—Mr Thomas Felton wrote asking for repairs to Greenwoodavenue. This was referred to the Streets Committee to report. Mr Felton also wrote offering to give the necessary land on his frontage to widen tbfe street, upon condition that the Council paid the necessary legal cosbs, and undertake to make the street out of the next loan. This was agreed to. , _ Wolselev-road.—An application from b. Compton for repairs to this road was referred to the Streets Committee with power to act. . Surrey-street. —H. Anderson asked for an extension of the footpath to his new house in Surrey-street. This was referred to the Streets Committee With power to act. Hinemoa.— Seventy-six residents wrote asking to have access made from Hlnemoaroad to Coekburn-street. This was referred to the Streets Committee to report. Crummer-road. —A number of residents ln Crummer-road asked to have the upper end cnt to a permanent level, and kerbeil and channelled at the Ponsouby-road end. This was referred to. the Streets Committee. Campbell-road.—H. C. Whitmore wrote asking for certain works in Campbell-road. The letter was referred to tbe Streets Committee. Great North-road.—The Secretary of the Arch Hill Road Board wrote offering to pay half cost of laying a pipe drain at the tram terminus to carry off slorm water. Mr Garland said several of the Arch Hill pipes were not large enough to carry away the surplus water. It wns decided to draw the Board's attention to tho various places mentioned. Mr Donald said the Council had no right to pay half cost of a pipe across the road to carry off the storm water. The Mayor said there was no Intention of doing so. Accounts totalling £82 1/4 were passed for payment. PARNELL. The Tarncll Borough Council met last evenliiE. Donation.—The manager of Millar's West Australian Hardwood Co. offered, if th« Council were to undertake the work ol beautifying the reserve on Point Resolution, to donates quantity of jarrah timber for six garden seats, it was decided that the offer be accepted with thanks, if such a course were taken. Point Resolution. —Several objections were raised to clauses in the lease from the Government to the Council of Point Resolution Reserve, and it was decided to refer the whole matter to the Streets Committee. One member of the Council regretted that after so much trouble had been taken lv securing the reserve they should seem to demur on smaller points, in- view of the fact that there were so many parks aud re serves around Auckland in a disgraceful state through lack of Improvement. Others expressed the desire to have the reserve for the people for all time. Water.—The turncock reported that 2,048,000 gallons of water had been consumed for the fortnight. NEWMARKET. The Newmarket Borough Council met last evening. Present: Messrs F. Bennett (Mayor), A. Seccombe, J, McC'oll, C. Leek, D. Teed, n. Kinder, R. Holmes, and W. Edgerley. Khyber Tass-road.—A petition from a number of ratepayers of Khyber Pass-road requested that Its northern portion, between Huntly-avenuo nnd tbe western boundary of the borough, be widened, the petitioners urging the necessity of tho work to avoid accidents. The Mayor remarked that this question was receiving consideration, and the matter dropped. Water Consumption.—The turncock reported that the borough had consumed 913,000 gallons ln tne past fortnight, a docrease of 17,000 gallons on the previous fortnight. ONEHUNGA. The fortulgntly meeting of th" One-huuga Borough Council was held last night. Mr. John Howe (Mayor) presided. Financial.—The town clerk stated that tho general fuud was overdrawn to the extent of £423, and that the cemetery account was £932 in credit. Rlße Range.—The Board of Education, after acknowledging the certificate of the safety of the rifle range for use by school cadets, advised that it was agreeable to pay half the maintenance cost. The borough engineer produced plans showing the portion of the One-tree Hill district which it was proposed should be added to the Onehunga water area, and specifications for 00 chains of extension to Penrose. The Council decided to invite tenders for pressing the extension. Fleet Entertainment. —The Mayor stated that the Drill Hall was to be repaired ln preparation for the men from the American fleet by whom It might be needed. Streets. —The conditions of Chamber-laln's-avenue and Cardwell-street were complained of. The matters were referred to uhc Streets Committee.
