A TIGHT TUSSLE.

At Remuera, under fine weather conditions, a bard and fast game resulted in * • win for the Auckland A team against.Auck. land B. Mason and Lepirie bullied offi arid '■'; the A's were immediately on the move, ' Mather just missing. The B's now got into, their stride, and made an onslaught on the '' A's citadel, Whitley and Spears clearing. A ■< sally by the vanguard almost resulted in &_§ score, but Howell saved splendidly. East- ■■: gate drove the leather to midfield. Mason stopped, and set his forwards going. Speight' and Reid stopped the advance, and Lepine, Whyman v and Jessup shifted play to the ' other end. Hill returned, and. a smart dash . by the A's front line looked dangerous, but S Howell was in the way. A fine hit by Eastgate relieved the pressure, but it' was only temporary. Mason putting one over the bar from a fast centre. The defence of the ' B's was sound, and although the A's were : doing most of the attacking, no score resulted at half-time.
