WAIKATO NEWS.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

HAMILTON, this day,

In the Police-Court to-day, George Allen, previously convicted of breaking and entering the premises of Wm. Paul, pleaded guilty to a similar offence on the same premises, and the theft of £2, which he said he divided with Thos.' Hughes. He was sent to the Supreme Court for sentence. A charge against Thos. Hughes for receiving £1, knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained, was dismissed.

A commission, presided over by Mr. W. J. Short, to apportion the cost o5 the erection of the Hamilton bridge, met this morning. At the request of counsel representing the Waipa and Waikato councils and the Frankton Town Board, the commission adoumed for a month to enable a joint tally to be taken. Mr. Short commented strongly on the inconvenience caused him through the adjournment, when a tally might have been taken months ago. The local bodies had left the collection of evidence to the last minute, when everything should have been ready for him to proceed.
