Shipments now arriving are very small, but prospects are favourable. Following are current quotations:—Canterbury mutton, i l-8d; North Island, 35(1; Klver Plate, 3Jd. Lamb: The market is firm and there is good demand for all lamb. Canterbury briinfls are quoted nt s*, and other than Canterbury at 0 l-Bd. Beer: The market is dull. Hindquarters are quoted at 3 5-Bd, forequarters 3d. Butter: The market Is steady, and home supplies are increasing. Choice New Zealand butter ts quoted at 109/ (nominal); Danish, 110/; Siberian, 100/ per ewt. Cheese: The market is dull and declining, and Canadians nre hurrying forward supplies. New Zealand white makes are quoted at GO/, coloured at 57/, and Canadian makes at 58/. Hemp: The market Is very weak, with nothing doing. Following are current quotations:—pood fair grade, on spot, £26; fair gra'Je, on spot, £24 10/; fair current Manila, on spot, £24 10/; May to July shipments are quoted: Good fair grade, £26 10/; fair grade, £24 15/; fair current Manila, £24 15/. Cocksfoot: The seed market is firm, and buyers nre not keen to do business. There are lisUt storks on hand, and bright, clean 1711)8 is quoted nt 80/. Wool: The sales closed with Improved competition, the market being stronger but prospects nre uncertain, as a large quantity is held over.
