(By Telegraph.—Press Association.. WESTPORT., Friday, One of the hawsers parted this morning when the attempt was made to tow off the stranded Taviuni on this ihbrn; ! ing's tide. The tug Mana went out in the afternoon, and after some difficulty replaced the line. A further attempt will be made to tow! the vessel off to-morrow morning. The magisterial inquiry into the stranding oi the Taviuni will commence at Westport next Monday. The assessors will be Captain G. G. Smith, superintendent oi mercantile marine, Wellington, and Captain W. J. Grey, a retired mariner, of Wellington, to act with Mr Rawson, S__i. STILL ON THE BEACH. WESTPORT, this day. Towing operations at the Taviuni today again failed fo shift the vessel. The damaged cargo will be sold by auction on the beach on Tuesday. A large quantity of cargo still remains in the forehold.
