MOUNT EDEN.
The ordinary meeting or the Mount Eden feßorough Council was neld last night. The EtMayor (Mr. O. Nicholson' presided, and f-there were also present: Messrs. C J. teTunks, G. S. Jacka, E. H. Potter, K. K. fyiEoss, W. W. -Warnoek, J. Woolley, S. G. t~_B___, B. Yates, J. Davis, and J p. riooton. ? Epsom Drainage.—On the Mayor's morajion, it was agreed that the foreman should £ .ascertain if a cave is available in the vit cinity of the Mt. Albert-Epsom roads, at a -fjcost of £20, which would ens-ore the draln_S*_e of that locality. Morions of Condolence.—Resolutions were repassed, conveying messages of condolence In ijitheir recent bereavements, to Messrs. K. A. JSCmdge and C. Hudson. Numbering Houses.—A communication flras received from the Postal Department, suggesting that the houses within the borough should be numbered to facilitate mail delivery. It was resolved to let the ..suggestion stand in abeyance. Blasting Nuisance.—Mr. JT. Lester wrote fnmplaicing that serious damage was being idone to his house in Bellevne-road as a result of the blasting operations pursued *y the Council's workmen in that locality. Mr. Bromhall wrote making a similar complaint regarding his property in Polnt- . street, and it was agreed to forward both -letters to the contractor. <Jneen's-avenne "Water Supply.—A petition !was received from the residents of Qneen'savenne, asking for an extension of. the svster mains to that part of the borough, fllhe Mayor said that Queens-avenue was Butside the water area, and it would be necessary to take a vote on the question. On the motion of Mr. Davis, it was resolved to take steps to obtain a water loan for -the purpose of extending the mains to jtjneen's-avenue. Street Lamps.—A proposal to substitute « similar style of street lamps to those fa use at Devonport, attached to telegraph «nd street poles, was referred to the -Streets Committee for consideration. A _ Cnotation was received from Beaney and ferns to supply lamp branches at 35/ each. ■
