A special meeting of the Grey Lynn Borough Council was held las*: night. Present: The Mayor (Mr G. Sayers), H. Schofiele, W. J. Holdsworth, W. Murray, J. 11. Suldoon, >Y. Dimery, J. G. Garland, W. S. ' fmith. Tannery.—An application was received . from--:Messrs Arlington and ,Lee,, .applying - for a-permit to commencß tanning at Rlch- . _iond,-at the-other sine of Messrs Heilaby's slaughter honse. The letter was referred - to the Health-Department, Mr Murray said the Richmond district was growing, and they did not want more offensive - trades. The Mayor said he believed in fostering industries that were not objectionable. If a %amery became a nuisance, the Council had its remedy. By-la-ws.—A by-law was passed regnlat- . :ing the terms upon which draining may be done in the borough by licensed drainers, and providing for better control and in-."--Sfiection of drains.
