Indignation of Australian Workers. MELBOURNE, April 2. The memorial tablet subscribed for by the men of the Newport railway workshops to Mr. Seddon has not been erected according to promise, although it has been in New Zealand for over 12 months. As a result, there is much feeling on the j matter. The secretary has written to I Sir Joseph Ward several times, and on I each occasion has received a reply that there had been no time to do anything, but that the matter would receive attention as soon as possible. Interviewed to-day, ,Sir Joseph Ward, referring to the cable message from Melbourne regarding the memorial tablet to Mr. Seddon, subscribed by the men of the Newport Workshops, said he is sure that a misapprehension has arisen ill regard to thp. position. The memorial has been received, and is at present in the General Assembly Library at Wellington. While discussing the matter, Sir Joseph Ward sent a telegram to Wellington asking that inquiries be made so that the position may be made clear.
