(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAEROA. Thursday. OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL. The monthly meeting of the Ohinemnri County Council was held this afternoon. The following tenders were accepted:— Clearing Waihi Beach-road from Waihi Borough boundary to Tauranga County boundary, Thomas, Tierncy, £45 10/G; forming and gravelling Maratoto-road, E. Bain, £174; supply of nightsoU pans, C. R. Taylor, 5/0 each; carrying out nishtsoil scrviee> in Paeroa, 11. Weddnp, 6d weekly, 7>.d fortuightly; and 6d every four cubic feet. It was resolved to call tenders for several metalling contracts on the Waihi-Paeroa-road, also to notify the Koads Department that any damage occasioned to the eoiiury roads through that Department widening drains at Netherton must be made good by them. It was decided that the' Council take over the lighting of toe town from the Light and Power Coy., the Council to be charged at the rate of 7/6 per 1000 ft for gas, and the Council to see to lighting a_nd extinguishing. The residents on the road between the Post Office and public school at Mangaltl asked that the road be gravelled, as in winter it is almost impassable. The engineer was instructed to report on the matter. The clerk of the Waihi Borough Council wrote stating that they had voted a subsidy of pound for pound up to £100 for work on Waihi Beach-road. It was decided to call tenders for the formation of the road.

Th e Mines Department wrote stating that they had agreed to grant a subsidy at the rate of pound for pound up to £100 towards the Maoriland Gold-mining Co., to assist in development work.

It was resolved that the engineer and chairman take steps to procure an area of lond for the purpose of a sanitary depot. The Council resolved to donate £25 to the Waikino Domain Board for the purpose of improving the domain. A donation of £10 was voted towards the Karangahake Public Librcfl-y and Readingroom.

Extension of time"was granted to five contractors, who were unable to complete certain contracts within the specified time The superintendent of the Waihi Gold mining Co. wrote, notifying that th e water laid on to Waikino for lire prevention purposes was being used for other purposes. To this he objected, as the company could not spare the water. The engineer was instructed to notify those making use of the water that they must desist immediately It was decided that the track from Karangahake to the Dominion Mine be cleared and repaired; also, to extend the water service to connect with the Mackaytown Domain.

The matter of drainage was again before the Council, when it was decided to again defer discussion, so as to obtain a report from the Chief Health Officer, and also to take legal opinion as to whether the Council can prevent Waihi and Waikino residents draining into the river. A meeting of the Ohineniuri .River Board was held at the termination of the County Council meeting, when it was decided to take steps to have the willows cut out of the Waihou River.
