PETITIONS TO THE HARBOUR BOARD.

ROADS AND WHARF KERBING. A petition has been prepared by a number of leading business men of Auckland for presentation to the Auckland Harbour Board, drawing attention to what is described as "the disgraceful state of the road leading on to the Hob-son-street wharf." The petitioners conclude: "We are aware of vie difficulties you are at present encountering in consequence of the removal of old wharves. Still, we are of opinion that a few loads of road metal would be money well spent, and expedite the delivery of cargo which at present is a consideration when wharf accommodation is so scarce." There are 18 signatures to the. document. Another petition, also for presentation to the Harbour Board, has appended the signatures of the heads of 29 of the leading commercial houses in fhe city. The petition reads: "We, the undersigned importers and carriers of produce, general merchandise, coal, cement, limp' sand, and timber, earnestly pray that you will have all the new wharves amply kerbed, as the present round edging on the railway wharf is a menace to man and beast."
