TWO MILLION EGGS.

AUCKLAND'S POULTRY INDUSTRY. Auckland has this year achieved a reJ cord in the output of eggs and poultry. This province easily leads the way in the poultry industry, and the figures for the year ending the 31st of March eclipse all previous records. The increase in the number of eggs put through the Auckland Government grading depot is one hundred per cent over ia?t years total, while the poultry returns chow an improvement of 70 per cent. The total number of eggs put through the grading stores in 1907 was 1,128,700. Tlie aggregate number for the year just ended is therefore well over 2i millions. Poultry shows an equally satisfactory improvement, and the increase on the previous year's total ol 14,491 birds is at least 70 per cent. The high prices which Have prevailed througSDut the season for feed no doubt caused many poultry farmers to dispose of their stock, and as remunerative values have been consistently offered for all classes of poultry, no surplus .stock has been carried over. During the first three months of 1907 the number of birds passing through the depot totalled 9169, winle for the corresponding period in the year ended, the total was 10,445. It is usual for the egg supply to show a falling-off at this time of the year, but the month's total of 04,800 eggs for March, 1907, has been considerably exceeded by the output for the last month, which amounted to 81,600 eggs.
