» | WIRTIFS CIECDS. XVirth Brothers great show -opens its 'Auckland season to-night at Freeman's Bay. In addition to the attrastions already enumerated the company includes amongst others John Welby .Cook, the jockey-act rider; also Sampei Osado, a contortionist and master of equilibrium; Captain Rose will appear for the first time in cliarge ot a troup of lions, bears and jaguars; and Signor Herbertino, from the Palat-o -Circe, Madrid, will demonstrate his ability as a table and barrel manipulator. Then there will be Fraulein Hertzog, an equestrienne who is described as "the Queen of the Circus"; and a trio of acrobats who perform their feats in a dog cart. The whole of the circus company will appear in an oriental pageant representing the Durbar, and introducing richly-decorated elephants, cattle, camels, buffaloes, horse,, njufes, other animals and attendants. Among the performers who have [previously delighted local audiences are the intrepid flying Herberts, the Misses Philipino. Marizles and Cooke, and Little May Martin. Messrs. Wirtlx. Bros. carry in all over 100 people, and under their huge tent there are. seven distinct shows, all of which can be seen for one ticket. On account of the. shortness of the season they will givg two shows daily, afternoon at 3 p.m., and evening at 8 g.m... . . - MACMAHON'S PICTUJiES. The popularity of the animated picture entertainments at His Majesty's Theatre by MacMahon's Company remains unabated, and last night there was another large audience. The programme comprises many amusing films, and is freely interspersed with, dramatic, sensational and pathetic scenes. The illustrated songs by Miss Lorraine Tansley met with every expression of approval last night, and she was repeatedly encored. The entertainment will be repeated tc-night and throughout the week.
